Arduino Radio

Why

For decades, radios have been controlled by buttons, sliders, and dials. This radio concept re-imagines what radio controls could be. This project explored novel interactions through physical computing and craft.

What

Each brick serves a different function: on/off, tuning, and volume. The bricks create unique sculptures by setting the radio to different stations at varying volumes.

How

To bring this concept to life I used Arduino with an FM tuner breakout board, reed switches, and rotary encoders. The boxes are made out of hard maple with a laser engraved graphic treatment.
